LIMEN

"Limen" — the threshold. A Latin word for the moment of crossing, when one space gives way to another.

Limen is a two-week residency dedicated to artists and researchers who need real time—not just a weekend, nor a frantic rush, but fourteen uninterrupted days to think, create, and be transformed by the place where they find themselves. You'll work alongside a small group of fellow artists, each engaged in their own practice, but never alone. Throughout your stay, you'll be guided by Linda Paganelli—an artist, visual anthropologist, and filmmaker—who coordinates the residency's group sessions and works alongside you on your individual journey.

This is a residency based on the belief that individual work and the collective process feed into one another—that what you're creating becomes clearer, more personal, and deeper when it enters into dialogue with others engaged in the same challenging endeavor.

Alongside your own independent studio time, Linda facilitates group sessions rooted in regenerative practices — structured space for collective grounding, exchange, and reflection that supports your individual process rather than pulling you away from it. These sessions draw directly on Linda's anthropological training to open up memory — both collective and individual — as material for the work itself: what a body carries, what a place holds onto, what a family or a community passes down without ever naming it out loud. You'll be invited to develop ideas for artworks that work with this material, read through a lens that is explicitly political and queer — attentive to visibility and erasure, to who gets to belong and who doesn't, to how power writes itself onto bodies, landscapes, and relationships. This isn't a theoretical add-on. It's a way of looking that runs through the whole residency, from the individual conversations about your work to the group sessions themselves.
